Varnish is a high-performance caching system that helps speed up your website by serving cached versions of pages directly from the server, before they reach WordPress.

The Breeze plugin on Cloudways comes with pre-configured Varnish integration, so you get the benefits of server-level caching without any complex setup.

This article explains how Varnish works with Breeze and how you can manage its basic settings from your WordPress dashboard.

The Varnish tab in Breeze gives you basic controls to clear the server-level cache when your site content changes. While all settings are already pre-configured on Cloudways, Breeze gives you the option to manage cache purging easily.

Auto Purge Varnish (Recommended)

When Auto Purge Varnish is enabled, Breeze will automatically clear the Varnish cache every time you perform important actions on your site, such as:

  • Publishing or updating blog posts

  • Publishing or updating pages

  • Posting comments

This ensures your visitors always get the latest version of your content — without having to clear the cache manually.

Note: We recommend keeping this setting enabled at all times.

Varnish Server IP (Pre-Configured)

The Varnish Server field shows the IP address of the default Varnish server used by Cloudways. You do not need to modify this field.

This is automatically configured for all Cloudways-hosted applications that support Varnish. You can leave this setting as it is.

Purge Varnish Cache Manually

If you ever need to clear the entire Varnish cache manually (for example, after a design update or major plugin change), you can do so with just one click.

How to Do It:

  1. Go to Settings > Breeze > Varnish tab

  2. Click the Purge Varnish Cache button.

Breeze will instantly send a purge request to the Varnish server, clearing all cached pages so the latest content is delivered.

Don’t Forget to Save Changes

After enabling or adjusting any Varnish settings in Breeze, be sure to click the Save Changes button to apply your updates.

That’s it! We hope this article was helpful.
