Under the Packages tab of the Server Settings and Packages section, you can choose between different PHP versions, MySQL versions, replace MySQL with MariaDB, or deploy Redis on your server. We plan to add further options in the future.

The following steps detail the options available under the Packages tab.

What Can I Do From the Packages Tab of Server Settings & Packages Section?

Step 1: Navigate to Settings & Packages Section

Log into the Cloudways Platform with your credentials. Click on Servers in the top menu bar. Then, click on your target server from the list.

Click on the Settings & Packages section and then on the Packages tab.

Step 2: Options in Packages Tab

Now we will list the different options that you have under the Packages tab:

Upgrading / Downgrading PHP

You can upgrade/downgrade the PHP version installed on your server. To change your PHP version, just choose the new version from the drop-down menu and click the Save button to apply the changes.

The PHP version change is server-wide (i.e. affecting all applications on the server).

Upgrading MySQL / Switching to MariaDB

Similarly, you can upgrade the MySQL version deployed on your server (by default we deploy 5.5). You can also replace MySQL with MariaDB.

Simply choose the desired database from the drop-down and click Save.

It is not possible to downgrade from newer MySQL versions to older ones or from MariaDB to MySQL.

Enabling Redis

Deploying Redis is trivial too. Just click on Install to deploy Redis to your server.

Enabling Elasticsearch

Select either Elasticsearch version (depending on your requirements) and then click Save. The server will make the changes with your selected version.
