Server maintenance is part of our approach to making your hosting experience better by making your servers secure and stable; therefore, Cloudways runs server maintenance activity from time to time or when needed to keep all the servers up to date and healthy in our server farm.

Maintenance includes updating the operating system packages and installing the latest security patches. Cloudways gives you the freedom to choose the convenient time in which your website encounters minimum traffic and less load as you may experience an interruption in service to your server or website(s). This maintenance is necessary as it prevents many performance and server-level issues.

Important

Please note that this maintenance activity is server-specific, so if you are running multiple servers, then changing the maintenance time of one server will not be applicable on the other servers. Moreover, if you clone your server, then the cloned server will not inherit the same preferences, so you need to set the preferred maintenance time manually.

How to Schedule Server Maintenance Activity by Cloudways

You can easily choose the preferred maintenance time using the Cloudways Platform, and here is how you can do it.

Step# 1

Log in to the Cloudways Platform, click on the Servers tab from the top menu bar and click on your target server.

Now, click on the Settings & Packages from the left navigation bar and switch to the Maintenance tab.

Step# 2

Now, choose your preferred day and the one-hour time from the drop-down options to be allotted for maintenance activity and click on the Save button to save the changes. For instance, if you select time as 14:00 UTC, then the maintenance will take place in the window of 14:00 UTC till 15:00 UTC.

Tip

Here, the given timezone is UTC +0 so you can use any third-party UTC Time Zone Converter tool such as Time Zone Converter by timeanddate.com to convert into your local time zone. Also, this time is given in a 24-hour format.

Now all of the future maintenance activities will take place only in your preferred time slot.
