Renaming your web application’s folders helps you easily identify specific applications when accessing the server via SSH or SFTP.

How to Rename Your Web Application Folder

Step 1: Select Application

Log into the Cloudways Platform with your credentials. Click on Applications in the top menu bar and then select your target application from the list.

Step 2: Rename Application Folder

Now, under the Application Management area, you can simply rename and save the folder as shown in the figure below. That’s it!

Important Notes

While accessing the server via SSH or SFTP you would now see two folders:

  1. The new folder name that you have set. This is a symlink and does not consume space, so there is nothing to worry about.

  2. The old folder name of your application. This is a hard link and does not need to be removed.

That’s it! We hope this article was helpful. If you need any help, then feel free to search your query on Cloudways Support Center or contact us via chat (Need a Hand > Send us a Message). Alternatively, you can also create a support ticket.
