Stopping access to your application on Cloudways is a quick and effective way to control visibility and usage without deleting your application.

Based on feedback from our community, we have added a new feature to disable access to an application, making it easier to manage applications that are under development, temporarily inactive, or require restricted access.

Once disabled, your website becomes inaccessible, SSH/SFTP access is limited, and cron jobs are paused, while essential services like backups and databases continue to function normally.

How to Stop Access to an Application

Step #1:

  • Log into the Cloudways Platform with your credentials.

  • Click on Flexible on the left menu bar and then click on My Applications.

Step #2:

  • Click on the desired application from the list as shown below.

Step #3:

  • Find and click on Application Settings in the left menu bar as shown below.

Step #4:

  • Scroll down the same Application Settings page and you will find Application Access option.

  • Location the switch and turn it off to stop access to an application. Click on Proceed and the application access will be stopped.

What Happens When You Stop Application Access

When you stop access to your application, the following changes will take place:

  • Website Becomes Inaccessible: Your application will no longer open in a browser using either the domain or temporary URL.

  • Application-Level SSH/SFTP Access Disabled: Access using application credentials is suspended. However, the master user can still access the application directory.

  • Cron Jobs Paused: Any scheduled cron jobs configured for the application will stop running.

  • Backups and Database Remain Active: Server backups and database services will continue to work normally without interruption.

  • Access Can Be Restored Anytime: You can re-enable access to your application at any time using the same option.
