If you are running a WordPress Multisite, you may encounter issues where the admin users need to upload files that exceed the pre-set limit, and the operation fails. There are multiple ways of increasing the upload limit; however, in the case of WordPress Multisite, there is an option in Network settings that is usually missed by the admins.

How to Increase the Max Upload Size in WordPress Multisite

Go to your Network Admin dashboard, and then go to Settings > Network Settings > Max Upload file size. The default value of Max upload file size in a WordPress Multisite is 1500 KB. You can change this to the desired value and click the Save Changes button.

Tip

This increase is dependent on your server settings. If your server is set to 20 MB, you cannot increase the WordPress upload size to 25 MB. However, if your server is set to 20 MB and your network setting is set to 15 MB, you can resolve the issue by increasing the upload size to 20 MB. You can change your server settings by following this guide.
