How to Change Your Application Admin Password

Did you forget your WordPress/Magento admin password or want to change your existing password? Don’t worry, there are many ways to reset or change it but today we will show the easiest method using the Cloudways Platform.

Important

  • The method shown below is only applicable for WordPress (including WooCommerce and WordPress Multisite) and Magento applications.

  • An admin password can be changed by the account owner and team member with the required privileges.

Change or Reset Your Admin Password

Step #1 — Navigate to Access Details

Log in to your Cloudways Platform using your credentials.

  1. From the top menu bar, open Servers.

  2. Next, choose the server where your desired application is deployed.

  3. Click www (if you are using Classic Interface) or the globe icon (if you are using New Interface).

  4. Next, choose your application.

Step #2 — Updating Password

  1. Navigate to Access Details.

  2. Click edit to update your admin password.

  3. Enter your new admin password and please ensure to set a stronger password for your account.

  4. Finally, click Save.

Important Notes

  • If you change/reset your admin password using your WordPress/Magento application or modify the default user table in the database, then the Cloudways Platform will still show the old password. You can reset your admin password to have the same password across the board.

  • If you have disabled the default admin account from your application, updating your admin password will reactivate the admin account.

  • Restoring a database backup from third-party sources or migrating your application will mean that the platform-provided credentials will be unusable. Therefore, changing your admin password will assure you that the shown username and password will grant you access.
