Why Can’t I Use My Own Cloud Account Credentials?September 19, 2014

In this KB

  • Explanation of Cloudways policy disallowing personal cloud credentials

On top of not being able to get root access to your servers, you can’t use your own cloud credentials either. The logic that we apply here is exactly the same as the one we describe in our root access KB:

Why Can’t I Have Root Access to My Server?

Our servers, whether from Amazon, Google, Digital Ocean and others, are deployed with our specific policies and features. We will be unable to apply the same policies on servers you own personally from our infrastructure partners.

At the same time, if we deploy our servers to your own cloud account, you will most probably be able to bypass our root restrictions using tools at the cloud account level. The end result would be the same as we would lose control of our network.
