Important Announcement for Rackspace

The Rackspace Catch-All feature is deprecated as of October 31st, 2022. As a result, new users will not be able to use this feature; however, existing users using the feature will continue to work for the time being. This feature will reach end-of-life by December 31st, 2022.

If you need mailboxes for your domain (e.g., me@mydomain.com), we have partnered with Rackspace to offer their reliable Rackspace Email service. For just $1/month per mailbox, you will receive a fully-featured email experience managed by Cloudways that you can trust. You can set up mailboxes, aliases, mail forwarding, and add catch-all addresses for your domains.

Step #2 — Setting up Aliases

Aliases allow you to create additional email addresses that point to existing mailboxes without creating separate ones.

For example, if you have a mailbox: user@yourdomain.com, and you want to receive emails at another email address: user2@yourdomain.com without having a separate mailbox, you can set up the alias: user2@yourdomain.com that points to user@yourdomain.com. Now, you only need to log in to user@yourdomain.com and check out the emails received at both addresses.

  1. To set up an alias, visit Aliases.

  2. Enter the alias and select the domain from the dropdown menu.

  3. Next, select the email address you wish to be a member of that alias. Click Add.

  4. Click Save Changes to confirm the changes.

    Important

You cannot have aliases with the same name as the mailboxes or alias of aliases.

Step #3 — Setting up Mail Forwarding

You can also forward the emails in your mailboxes to other mailboxes hosted on and outside Cloudways.

  1. To set up mail forwarding, visit Forwarding Mail.

  2. Select the mailbox for which you wish to set up mail forwarding from the dropdown menu.

  3. Next, enter the email address where you want to forward the emails. If you wish to save copies of the forwarded email, please check Save Copies of Forwarded Email.

  4. Finally, click Save Changes to confirm.

    Tip

To set up another mail forwarding, click Add Email.

    Important

You can forward emails to a maximum of 4 email addresses

Step #4 — Setting up Catch-All Address

You can create Catch-All addresses that receive all emails sent to incorrect/non-existent mailboxes on your domain. This feature ensures that the email is still received on your domain even if the sender makes mistakes in typing the email address.

To set up a catch-all address, go to the Catch-All tab. In the first dropdown, select the domain and the email address from the second dropdown to set up the catch-all address. Finally, click Save Changes to confirm.

Can I use Rackspace for transactional (server’s outgoing) emails?
